‘Pink Poison’ have made St.Helens proud by winning a whole host of trophies across all age groups at the British Cheerleading Association International Championships at the Ricoh Arena, Coventry, beating squads from across Europe.
The International three day event is the most prestigious and largest Cheer and Dance event to be held each year outside of the USA, with over 3000 competitors being judged by top American judges.
It was a fantastic weekend for all of the Pink Poison squads, none more so than for the Senior Squad, who won both the Cheerleading and Dance competitions, confirming them as the best cheer squad in the UK, and have been invited to go and compete at the 2010 US National Championships in Orlando, Florida if they wish!!
The Senior squads success was followed with the newest and youngest squad – the ‘Prep Squad’ winning the Cheerleading event and were runners up in the dance event – a fantastic result for many of the youngsters competing in their first ever competition and with the slightly older Peewee squad winning the dance competition it was a double success for the young squad members.
The Junior co-ed (male/female) team followed this by also winning their competition, with the junior squad also finishing in second place in Cheerleading, and scooping second and third place in both the dance competitions.
The Cheerleaders were also rewarded for their spirit and attitude, with the BCA awarding the events Sportsmanship award to the squad.
The squad train hard at Peter Street Community centre each week and the trophies won (Six 1st, Eight 2nd, a Third place,Fifth place and Sixth place) are a testament to the hard work and dedication put in by all of the local youngsters from across the town as well as their coach Kerrie Brogan and has cemented Saints very own ‘Pink Poison’ as the most successful Cheer Team in the UK!!
